Travelers going westward from Hara can appreciate the beauty of Mt.Fuji for some time. The fields around here are swampy and cranes are seen searching for food. Two woman tourists pause by the roadside to look up at the solemn mountain which stands in soft contrast to the morning sky. The summit of Mt.Fuji is drawn projecting outside the frame of the picture, and in this way Hiroshige stresses the loftiness of the mountain.
