Many images of Buddhas carved directly into stone wall blocks at USUKI in Ohita prefecture, Japan are very famous.
Nobody knows when,by whom or what purpose these were carved,however, legend says that these were made by the artists from Korea over 1,000 years ago.
The most famous one among them is this head of Buddha which felt from the original 3m statue and it is guessed that somebody picked it up and placed it on to the stone base where it is now can be seen.
Beautiful long crescent semi-closed eyes,elegant eyebrows,gracefully closed mouth, plump cheeks-are all mysterious qualities of this depiction of Buddha.
Choko Mtsumoto (1902- ),a well known artist for his painting of the Image of Buddha,often made trip to USUKI to sketch it. This picture seems to habe been depicted as if in prayer.
Uchida Art Co. crafted this picture as a woodblock print spending one full year on its production.

STUDIED: Graduated from Kyoto Municipal Art University and studied under one of great japanese painting artists, "Tsuchida,Bakusen"

EXHIBITED: One man show at Kyoto Daimaru Dept.Store 18 times.One man show in Tokyo 25 times. Exhibited to Japan-France art exhibition and International art exhibition.
